Irakli Uznadze, head coach of the Georgian national judo team, named the composition for the first international individual tournament of the season. On February 8-9, Paris will host the traditional Grand Slam and the Georgian team will come out with 14 athletes. Two Georgians will wrestle in each weight category.
According to the decision of Uznadze, the team will wrestle almost with the best composition. Only Olympic champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili remained beyond the list, he moved to the new weight class – in 73 kg and will open the season with the Grand Slam of Dusseldorf (February 21-23).
The head coach of the team presented the list of judokas to the media today, at the Vake Sambo Palace. Before leaving for Paris they will prepare in this palace. Judo Academy named after Shota Chochishvili is under reconstruction.
