20-year-old Georgian attacker Giorgi Chanturia is preparing for the Romanian Derby, which will be held on Monday: “CFR Cluj” plays against “Universitatea Cluj” and Giorgi says that the entire city is waiting for this match. Chanturia missed the previous match (against “Korona” 2:2) and he explained the reason of it.
Giorgi also said to “World Sport” that the issue about joining “Verona” is finally solved, he will join the Italian club in summer.
We contacted Chanturia in Cluj.
- It’s already 2-3 weeks you joined “CFR Cluj”. What are your impressions?
- Good. The town is normal. These days I will bring my family here. Here are all the conditions to develop. It’s a friendly team, I didn’t have adaptation problems. There are many players from Spain and Portugal, I know Spanish so I have to problem with communication. I will go to Italy in summer.
- Is it already decided that you join “Verona” this summer?
- Yes, I did not say earlier but now I definitely know that I join “Verona” this summer.
- In the last round against “Korona” you do not appear on the field. Why?
- Two days after the return from the team, we had a match against “Steaua”. I had a little pain on my leg and despite this I played the second half, which made my injury worse. That’s why I was not totally ready for the match against “Korona”. Now I am preparing for the match against “Universitatea” on Monday.
- What is the specific of the play like in Romania? How would you compare it with the Dutch Eredivision?
- Who watched at least the match against “Steaua”, then they easily would have noticed that playing in the Romanian Championship is more difficult for the player than playing in the Dutch Championship. Here is very tight play, you get the ball and do not have a space. It was not in this way in Netherlands… I played in Russia too and I can safely say that for the attacking player is easier in Russia than in Romania.
- You had a debut for the national team against Liechtenstein and you celebrated this with a goal. How would you remember this match?
- Every player dreams about to play for the national team and I am no exception. This goal had a beneficial effect on me and I will try to be more profitable for the team and the whole country.
- Did you feel that Liechtenstein was very weak opponent?
- Of course. This victory will not mislead us, because we know that only Gibraltar is such as Liechtenstein in the qualifying group. I believe that Germany has guaranteed the first place and Gibraltar is the latest. The remaining 4 teams have more or less equal chances and we should do everything to achieve the goal.
