Russian internet portal “Sport-Express” tried to find out why Giorgi Chanturia, forward of “Vitesse”, has a right to play at the Dutch Championship in spite of his disqualification in Russia.
In the 29th round of Russian Premier League, Chanturia had a clash with Kokorin. On 22 May Disciplinary Committee of Russian Football Union gave Chanturia a 8-match disqualification. “Alania” did not appeal this decision of the committee. It is known that Russian Football Union informed FIFA with this disqualification.
In spite of it, Chanturia held two matches in “Vitesse”. Dutch Football Federation told “Sport-Express” that they applied to International Football Federation on Chanturia. FIFA told the federation they had no information about Chanturia’s disqualification. So, Chanturia was let on the field.
“Sport-Express” contacted FIFA but did not receive a reply yet.
The Dutch press spread the comment of the Dutch Football Federation on Chanturia:
“We know about the disqualification of Chanturia but cannot do anything. We applied to FIFA about this issue. We have no idea why this issue took so much time. Like us, FIFA depends on the Russian side. We cannot forbid Chanturia to play unless FIFA contacts us”, - vitessinside.nl cites the words of Hans van Castel, representative of the Dutch Football Federation.
