The National Team: November without Friendly Match

It is almost decided that the national team will not hold friendly matches in November. There are two days in the middle of November when the national teams hold matches but Georgia will not play. Why? It turned out that Georgian Football Federation and head coach Temur Ketsbaia wanted to hold matches in Tbilisi but it is tough to convince somebody to come here.

Unfortunately, the teams refused to play in Tbilisi. There are many countries in FIFA. Of course, grands will not come but what about weak teams?

It is good that we hosted the first qualifying round of European U-17 Championship and soon U-19 Championship will take place here.

Ketsbaia has stated many times: “We want to hold friendly matches home but the opponent must come here. It is not easy for us to hold friendly matches”.

The national team has held friendlies in November. In 2010 we won 2:1 in Slovenia, in 2011 2:0 in Moldova and last year 0:0 in Egypt. We have strengthened and do not need friendlies? This year the national team held 4 friendlies away – against Albania, Ireland, Denmark and Kazakhstan. Ketsbaia complained they missed playing home.
