Aleko Chakvetadze: "I Am Sorry about PAOK, but I will Go to Another Club from New Year"

18-year-old Georgian defender Aleko Chakvetadze practiced in Greek PAOK for a long time. The head coach of the team Hub Stevens liked him and also Greek media wrote that signing contract with the Georgian was decided. Agent of the player Goga Gakhokidze told this to “World Sport”. The contract was not signed and the reason of this is that the Georgian football player got trauma…

Chakvetadze is in Tbilisi and “World Sport” talked to him:

- On November 15 I got trauma on my waist and it is already one week that I started training lightly. Signing 4-year contract was decided: the club was searching flat for me, even English teacher had been hired. I am very sorry that PAOK changed their mind to leave me, but I am waiting for new offers from new season.

-       More concretely?

-       Goga Gakhokidze told me that he will take me to another foreign club. He is working on this case. I do not know anything concrete yet.

-       At this time PAOK is considered as N 2 club in Greece. Was it difficult to train in such a strong club for you?

-       I was in the main team all time. At first it was difficult, there was also language barrier, then the players made me feel that I was not stranger. It was no longer difficult for me, I felt fine physically and if not this trauma … 4 players of PAOK are in the national team of Greece, and 3 in the youth team. Also, one football player plays for Slovenian team, and another one for Romanian team.

-       Have you had enough time to make friends with them?

-       I had a good relationship with everyone. Especially with Georgios Tsavela, who plays for the national team.

-       Does PAOK consider you as a central defender?

-       Yes, however there were talks about playing as a midfielder.

-       There are legends about the fans of PAOK. What can you say about this?

-       It is amazing. I did not really expect if they were so noisy. Not only in Greece, but throughout Europe they have featured fans.

-       As we all know, you was growing up with head coach Gubaz Dolidze in Georgia.

-       Yes. Gubaz Dolidze is everything for me, he grew me up as a football player. I will practice with him now. Gubaz is in “Dila 2”. I will train there, but I will not play. Before this I was playing in the doubles of “Metalurg” and “Chikhura”.

-       You have scored one important goal in the lines of Georgian U-17 team …

-       Yes, against Spain at Caspian Cup. We were losing and at the final minute I managed to equalize.
