The First Georgian Gold in Paris - Freestyle Wrestlers Started with Two Medals

The fifth day of World Championship finished with the Georgian anthem. Freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili (125 kg) beat favorite Taha Akgul of Turkey (10:8) in final.

Before the final Geno Petriashvili defeated three opponents: Anzor Ruslanovitch of Russia (13:2), Korey Jarvis of Canada (10:0) and Levan Berianidze of Armenia (12:2).

Davit Modzmanashvili also wrestled in heavyweight. However, he lost the first meeting to Yadollah Mohammadkazem Mohebi of Iran (2:3).

Vladimer Khinchegashvili (61 kg), who arrived in France as current Olympic, World and European champion, took the third place this time.

Khinchegashvili won over Cristian Etpison Nicolescu of Palau (10:0) and Tuvshintulga Tumenbileg of Mongolia (7:1). In ¼ final the Georgian fell to Gadzhimurad Rashidov of Russia (3:6).

In repechage Khinchegashvili defeated Logan Jeffery Stieber of USA (10:0), Cengizhan Erdogan of Turkey (3:0) and won bronze medal.

Champions and prize winners were also revealed in 57 and 86 kg. Beka Lomtadze (57 kg) and Davit Khutsishvili (86 kg) wrestled in the name of Georgia but both of them lost the first stage.

Lomtadze failed to Suleyman Atli of Turkey. Khutsishvili beat Jordan Steen of Canada (6:0) but then fell to Aleksandr Gostiyev of Azerbaijan (0:4).

On the last day of the tournament Zurab Iakobishvili (65 kg), Zurab Erbotsonashvili (70 kg), Jumber Kvelashvili (74 kg) and Elizbar Odikadze (97 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia.
