In 1/8 final of Memphis Open Georgian top seed Nikoloz Basilashvili beat Ivo Karlovic, No.1 seed of the tournament, 7:6, 6:3.
It is Basilashvili’s first win over the Croatian. In 2015 Karlovic defeated Basilashvili in Doha and Kuala Lumpur but this time he could do nothing. A day before Nikoloz ousted Jordan Thompson on his second try (6:3, 6:0).
Basilashvili’s recent progress is evident and this match showed it. In ¼ final the Georgian will face Matthew Ebden of Australia.
After today’s victory Basilashvili is in the 64th place in live ranking. He earned 45 ranking points and 18 630 USD by making through to ¼ final of Memphis Open.
