Georgian tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili won the license for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. The Olympic Committee confirmed the information. This is the 38th Olympic license for the Georgian team.
Basilashvili hit Rio by the method of exclusion, because some of the country’s top seed refused to travel to the Olympics. Obviously, this fact does not detract Basilashvili from success, because he always was close to the license zone and finally reached the goal.
Since independence, Basilashvili will be the first male tennis player, who will participate in the Olympics on behalf of Georgia. In 1996, Irakli Labadze had the chance, but he did not play in Atlanta. Recall, that XXXI Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will take place on August 5-21.
