The 26th Congress: Almost 17 Million Debt, Rewarding, Etc.

Yesterday the 26th congress of the Georgian Football Federation was held at Hotels & Preference Hualing Tbilisi. The officials of the federation talked about difficult financial situation and presented the results of the auditor’s report.

The GFF general secretary Davit Mujiri stated the debt includes 16 785 600 GEL. The specifically debt is 11 785 000 GEL and 5 000 600 GEL is spent in advance.

The federation was audited last year when a new leadership came to the federation. Mujiri noted the budget deficit was caused by bank loans, debts of different organizations, no-purpose spending of the money sent by the UEFA and the FIFA.

By the way, the FIFA and the UEFA may sanction the current leadership of the federation due to this debt because they are legal successor of the previous leadership.

MP Davit Lortkipanidze said that it is the responsibility of the previous leadership.

“I understand the current leadership is legal successor but they must not take a responsibility” – stated Lortkipanidze.

The GFF president Levan Kobiashvili awarded 7 people for their contributions to the Georgian football: Tariel Khechikashvili, minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, and presidents of 6 football clubs: Roman Pipia (Dinamo Tbilisi), Ilia Kokaia (Zestafoni), Pridon Injia (Merani), Lekso Topuria (Lokomotiv), Besik Chikhradze (Gagra) and Guram Rukhadze (Wit Georgia).

Kokaia, Rukhadze and Topuria could not attend the congress but Kobiashvili will send the awards to them.

According to the decision of the congress delegates, some subjects are not members of the federation anymore: Metalurgi Rustavi, Disabled Football Players League, Beach Soccer Association, Street Football Association and Football Schools Association.

Levan Kobiashvili added these subjects did not do their duty.

The congress approved the 2015 financial report and the 2016 budget. The delegates made a decision on the approval of the independent audit.

Kobiashvili thanked the representatives of the commercial sector, including VTB, Coca-Cola and Hotels & Preference Hualing Tbilisi.

Kobiashvili reviewed the projects which the federation launched for the development of the football. Amateurs League, Coca-Cola Cup and Regions Cup will take place annually.

The GFF president also talked about women’s football and noted that on April 26, 2016, the federation started holding regular championship for the development of the women’s football.

It was noted that it is important to hold football matches across the country. This year the Georgian Cup Final took place in Kutaisi.

Levan Kobiashvili also talked about the creation of Sports Justice Protection Service in the federation. This service monitors all football matches in the country.

Also, on the coaching-educational projects: the UEFA pro-license was issued in Georgia. The president wished good luck to the coaches. He also talked about the UEFA project – certificate in football management which will start in the near future and listeners will have an opportunity to take the international course in the Georgian language.
