It is difficult to write without emotions because it was the victory which we will remember for a long time. The Georgia national team has never beat such opponent – Spain, current champion of Europe.
It was a friendly match but none of the teams will be pleased to lose a match home. If anyone says Vicente del Bosque’s team was not interested in the result of the friendly match, then, let me remind you that Spain defeated Korea 6:1 a few days ago.
Who expected such result after failing to Slovakia and Romania? Everybody talked about expected scores 7:0, 8:0, 9:1, 10:1.
Tornike Okriashvili scored the only goal of the match at the 40th minute.
Vladimir Weiss chose five-defender tactic again. Giorgi Aburjania and Vako Kazaishvili played in front of them. Tornike Okriashvili helped defence from left. Jaba Jigauri played on right. Lado Dvalishvili was a forward.
Jigauri had a debut in the national team. The Spaniards attacked Georgia from right where Juanfran and Lucas Vazquez played actively.
Aritz Aduriz missed a headshot, Revishvili parried the shot of Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara cannoned off the post. It happened before Okriashvili’s goal.
Del Bosque started the second half with four substitutions. The Georgians found it difficult to play Andres Iniesta but it was not Iniesta’s best game.
Nukri Revishvili clashed heads with Sergio Busquets and was replaced by Roin Kvaskhvadze.
Moments? Nothing special. The Georgian defence played in orderly manner.
The Georgians had three counterattacks but in vain.
Okriashvili, Navalovski, Saba Kvirkvelia, Guram Kashia played hard. Some players got tired in the second half and made mistakes.
Spain lost only one match at home in the last 10 years – 0:1 against Germany two years ago. The second one turned out to be Georgia.
