The Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team will have 5 athletes at Rio 2016 Olympics. After Shmagi Bolkvadze (66 kg), Zurab Datunashvili (75 kg) and Revaz Nadareishvili (98 kg), Robert Kobliashvili (85 kg) and Iakob Kajaia (130 kg) gained Olympic licenses.
Today the Greco-Roman license season is closing with Istanbul international tournament.
Begi Darchia’s team participated in the tournament with three wrestlers. Only Revaz Lashkhi (59 kg) could not gain license. The Georgian wrestler lost 1/8 final to David Thielke of America 6:15.
Robert Kobliashvili (85 kg) defeated Santiago Brandao of Brazil 8:0. In ¼ final he won over Laimutis Adomaitis of Lithuania 4:1. Kobiashvili earned final and Olympic license by beating Danyal Gajiyev of Kazakhstan (2:1) in semifinal.
Iakob Kajaia defeated three opponents - Xenofon Koutsioumpas of Greece 8:0, Radhouen Chebi of Tunisia 8:0 and Mihaly Deak-Bardos of Hungary 9:0.
In final Kobliashvili will face Denis Kudla of Germany and Kajaia will wrestle Johan Magnus Euren.
