The Georgian U-21 team started practicing in “Mikheil Meskhi” at 19:00 yesterday. On March 23 Gia Geguchadze’s team will host San Marino in Euro qualifying match which will start at 21:00. Before the practice Geguchadze held a press conference. Otar Kiteishvili (“Dinamo” Tbilisi), midfielder of the Georgian U-21 team, also attended the press conference.
Geguchadze: It will be a debut match for me. All matches are important and we must get a positive result. I think we have a good composition.
- We are in the fourth place in the group. Will you have any specific goal in this qualifying round?
- We will always play for victory. Four matches are left and they will be tough ones. I want to pay more attention to the players playing in the national championship.
- Will the players born in 1996 play in rest of the matches?
- We are thinking about it but we are still orientated on result.
- You will have two assistants: Giorgi Chiabrishvili and Vasil Maisuradze. What will be their duties?
- Chiabrishvili will be the first assistant. Maisuradze will work on selection.
- You had one-day meeting and practice at the beginning of March where you observed team candidates. Do you plan it in the future?
- Yes, on April 20 and 26.
- Who will be a captain against San Marino?
- We may have different captains against San Marino and Ukraine. After these matches we will make a final decision.
- Tell us about those football players who you wanted to call up but are injured.
- Mate Tsintsadze, Giorgi Papunashvili, Otar Kakabadze, Mate Kvirkvia and Akaki Shulaia.
- Will the team have one tactical scheme?
- We want to establish an acceptable style for us and I want to say that the Georgians have ability to dictate our game to others.
Otar Kiteishvili: “I did not play when we beat San Marino 3:0 away. I know this opponent we must be concentrated. All matches of the national team are important and we must do our best”.
