As we already wrote, the annual ceremony of the Georgian Football Federation took place at the City Assembly today – GFF Awards 2015. The evening was opened with remembering Davit Petriashvili, who tragically died in December 2015. Due to his death, the ceremony was postponed.
The Federation and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs transferred 10 000 -10 000 GEL 23-year-old Kote Zarnadze’s family, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and needs and urgent operation, which will be held in Turkey.
GFF’s President Levan Kobiashvili summarized the previous year and thanked the previous leadership of GFF for their work. He mentioned the success of the age category teams, which made through to the elite round of the European Championship. Kobiashvili also said about UEFA Super Cup match and expressed his satisfaction with the fact that such level match was held in Tbilisi.
The minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Tariel Khechikashvili said that the Federation has prepared a program for the development of football. Khechikashvili announced that he read the program and agreed on it. In February, perhaps government will approve the program.

Best referee: Giorgi Vadachkoria;
Best Coach: Gia Geguchadze;
Best football player of the Georgian Championship: Aleksandre Iashvili;
Best young football player: Otar Kiteishvili;
Best female football player: Gulnara Gabelia;
Best football player of Georgia: Jaba Kankava;
For instance, last year’s best football player was Solomon Kvirkvelia, who was still in the top three with Kankava and Vako Kazaishvili. Jaba deserved this prize – he scored two goals in the last year and the goal against Germany of course stands out. Besides, in 2015, Kankava played in Europa League final (“Sevilla” – “Dnipro” 3:2) and was one of the leaders of the Ukrainian team.
Aleksandre Iashvili – 38-year-old player is still the best in the national championship. 22 years have passed since he played for the first time in the national championship and with abundance of goals attracted attention in the first season. Then there was a long career in the German clubs. He played for Azerbaijan for one year. Then he played for “Samtredia” and from summer for “Dinamo”.
Poll participants were head coaches and captains of the Georgian Super and First league teams, as well as head coaches of the Georgian national and age teams and the leadership of regional federations.
