Georgian Football Federation’s President Zviad Sichinava left his post. He said this at the meeting of GFF’s Executive Committee. “Rustavi 2” spread this information.
According to Sichinava, one of the presidential candidates of GFF said that everyone should be intervened in elections and which is why he did not think anyone needs him here.
Sichinava said that according to Football Federation’s rules, vice-president Aleksandre Chivadze will perform his duties from September 8.
Sichinava also noted that there was not pressure towards him and no one called him.
In such case, his decision is a bit confusing, because the same thing said Levan Kobiashvili at the closed meeting on Sunday and stated once again that he is against government intervention in the elections.
A few days ago, another candidate Mamuka Kvaratskhelia talked about this topic at the press conference: “It is good that after my statements football clubs ask for their votes and I welcome Gogi Chichinadze’s (Governor of Imereti) initiative to send request to all clubs to immediately join Federation. Other Governors – imitate Gogi Chichinadze, but compose appeal correctly!!!”
Zviad Sichinava did not say which candidate’s statement he meant.
