Tskhadadze Kept His Promise

Kakha Tskhadadze, head coach of the Georgian national football team, stated before the match he was planning a victory over Scotland. According to Tskhadadze, the team was capable of winning the first match in the qualifying round. However, he also added the match would be tough. Tskhadadze kept his promise and Georgia took 3 points.

Gordon Strachan did not believe in repetition of history and he even joked at pre-match press conference that a lot of time had passed since 2007 and he could not even suspect he would have iWatch. 8 years later Scotland left Georgia without a point.

Tskhadadze had three central defenders – Aleksandre Amisulashvili, Solomon Kvirkvelia and Guram Kashia. Ucha Lobzhanidze played on right wing and Giorgi Navalovski was on left one. Jaba Kankava and Jano Ananidze played in midfield center. Vako Kazaishvili, Tornike Okriashvili and Levan Mchedlidze were forwards. Mchedlidze scored a goal against Scotland in Euro 2008 Qualification (2:1).

The Georgian national team started match with a good counter offence but Kazaishvili kicked ball from a long distance.

In the middle of the first half Andrew Robertson made a dangerous assist in the penalty area of the opponent. If not Kvirkvelia, Steven Fletcher might have scored a goal.

At the 38th minute Kazaishvili scored a goal after Mchedlidze’s assist – 1:0.

At the beginning of the second half Ananidze assisted Kashia who had a weak kick and David Marshall caught the ball.

In the middle of the second half Mchedlidze kicked the ball but Marshall parried it on corner.

Tskhadadze replaced Okriashvili by Merebashvili.

At the end of the match Charlie Mulgrew took a corner kick and Steven Fletcher shot the ball but missed from a short distance.
