The Georgia and the Scotland national football teams have played each other three times. The teams played twice in Euro 2008 qualification and once in Euro 2016 Qualification.
Scotland lost 0:2 at “Boris Paichadze” on October 17, 2007, and lost a chance of taking the second place in the group. Levan Mchedlidze and Davit Siradze scored goals in that match.
The Georgians lost the first match 1:2 at “Hampden Park” in Glasgow. Shota Arveladze scored the only goal from the Georgians at the 41st minute. By the way, it was Arveladze’s last goal in the national team. He has held 61 matches and scored 26 goals in 1992-2007. Arveladze is the best top scorer in history of the national team.
Klaus Toppmoller of Germany coached the national team in Euro 2008 Qualification and the Georgians took the 5th place in 6 teams (France, Italy, Scotland, Ukraine, Georgia, Faroe Islands).
Georgia lost 0:1 in Euro 2016 Qualification. Georgian central defender Akaki Khubutia scored an own goal. Temur Ketsbaia headed the national team in that match.
This time Kakha Tskhadadze will head the team against Scotland. Defender Zurab Khizanishvili is back in the national team after a 2-year pause.
Georgia – Scotland will start at 20:00 at “Dinamo Arena” today. Ovidiu Hategan of Romania will judge the team. His compatriots Octavian Sovre and Sebastian Gheorghe will be assistant coaches.
